This week, I’m stepping on stage.

Standing in front of a crowd once felt impossible:
→ Racing heart
→ Shaky hands
→ A mind buzzing with fear

But I coach people every day to move past limiting beliefs.
↳ How could I ask them to do what I wouldn’t do myself?

So I walked my own talk.

I did the work.

I built my confidence through action.

Now, I’m heading to the Impact Live stage.

Still nervous? Absolutely. Here’s what helps:
→ Clarifying my message (What do I want people to remember?)
→ Practising - sometimes with an audience of one (my cat)
→ Breathing. Slowly.
→ Visualising it going well

Does it erase fear? No.

But it builds trust in myself.
Each time I face a fear, that inner critic gets quieter.

That’s what I want for my clients, too.
Because confidence isn’t something you wait for.

Start with four Ikigai questions.

Purpose is more than a buzzword.

Research shows that people with a strong sense of purpose experience better mental health, more energy, and greater satisfaction in life.

It’s not only about what you achieve, it’s about why you do it.

Ikigai is a Japanese concept that means “a reason for being.” It is commonly explored through four guiding questions, which correspond to its core elements. The overlap of the four is considered your Ikigai.

These questions help you reflect on where your purpose may lie:

– What do I love? (passion)
– What am I good at? (profession)
– What does the world need? (mission)
– What can I be paid for? (vocation)

Here’s how you can apply Ikigai in your life:

1. Write down what brings you joy. Big or small. (Even the things you loved as a child.)

Imposter syndrome doesn’t exist…

I heard a coach say this to a group of female entrepreneurs.

❌ I disagree ❌

🧠The term was first coined by psychologists in 1978. I might be biased but I tend to think they know their sh*t!

No, it’s not a clinical diagnosis (and I’m not keen on the use of ‘syndrome’) but the experiences, thoughts and feelings it describes are all too real for many people.

- ‘I’m a fraud, I’m going to get found out’
- ‘I don’t deserve this success’
- ‘I don’t have enough skill / knowledge/ experience’

🙌 Many people I work with find it a helpful way to conceptualise what’s going on for them and I’m all for that.

What I’m not going to do is invalidate their experience by telling them it doesn’t exist.

I’ve always struggled with perfectionism

But over recent years, I’ve done a lot of work to understand it and develop strategies to overcome it

Perfectionism can be really damaging, which is why I’m passionate about coaching people to overcome it.

Here are 5 things you can do to start working on it:

➡️ Redefine success: Focus on imperfect action, not unattainable perfection. Small wins lead to big results.

➡️ Start small: Choose one task where “good enough” is acceptable.

➡️ Use the 70% rule: Ask yourself, “What would 70% effort look like here?” You’ll often find it’s more than enough (and you could start with 80% or 90% if that feels too much of a stretch to start with!)

➡️ Practise self-compassion: Replace criticism with kindness when things don’t go perfectly.

➡️ Celebrate imperfection: Mistakes aren’t failures, they’re stepping stones to growth.

THIS IS ME…

🌟 1 year ago… I was in my dream job: a senior leadership role at a Healthtech startup. On paper, it looked like I had it all.

👀 But behind the scenes? I was struggling with self-doubt, overworking to prove myself, and burning out. My boundaries were flimsy, I wasn’t showing up as the Mum I wanted to be, and I felt like I was constantly failing.

And no:

- It wasn’t because I couldn’t “handle the pressure.”
- It wasn’t because I didn’t love my job.
- And it definitely wasn’t because I didn’t have the skills to succeed.

THIS IS ME…

🌟 1 year ago… I was in my dream job: a senior leadership role at a Healthtech startup. On paper, it looked like I had it all.

👀 But behind the scenes? I was struggling with self-doubt, overworking to prove myself, and burning out. My boundaries were flimsy, I wasn’t showing up as the Mum I wanted to be, and I felt like I was constantly failing.

And no:

- It wasn’t because I couldn’t “handle the pressure.”
- It wasn’t because I didn’t love my job.
- And it definitely wasn’t because I didn’t have the skills to succeed.

😲Of those 60,000, an astonishing 90% of them are repetitive. This is one of the reasons we want to pay attention to what we’re thinking and work on creating balanced thoughts.

Eckhart Tolle said, “The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation, but the thoughts about it, be aware of the thoughts you are thinking”.

The good news is that thoughts aren’t facts and, with practice, we can work on the content. By changing how we think, we change how we feel. ❤️

It’s easy to fall into the habit of measuring our success against others but comparing yourself to others is a form of self-sabotage that steals joy and hinders your progress.
